2. How to apply for the ULIP Challenge?

All applications for ULIP Challenge will be accepted online, and only through the dedicated form on website.

3. How many stages do the ULIP Challenge have?

The challenge would comprise of 2 stages-

  • Ideation stage
  • Prototype stage
4. What are the key components which are defining the ULIP platform?

There are three key components which are defining the ULIP platform-

  • Integration with existing data sources of ministries
  • Data exchange with private players
  • Unified document reference in the supply chain
5. Why are we launching the ULIP Challenge?
  • Ideating innovative use-cases to bring transparency and visibility by automating, optimizing, and cross-utilizing India's logistics resources/systems.
  • Developing solution/product by leveraging ULIP platform and the logistics-related data available with various Govt. systems which would enable operational efficiency, process optimization, reduce lead time, reduce congestion and informed decision making through effective handshaking and real time information system.
  • Contributing to India's Ease of Doing Business and Logistics Performance Index (LPI)
6. How many categories are there across which participants can submit the use-cases for the ULIP Challenge?

The use-cases should be submitted across the following categories:

  • Compliance/regulatory
  • Multimodal
  • Air
  • Rail
  • Road
  • Waterways/sea-ways
  • E-commerce
  • Cold store/warehouse
7. When is the deadline for the Idea submission stage?

The last date for Idea submission stage is January 10, 2022

8. What are the Eligibility criteria for the ULIP Challenge?
  • Start-ups
  • Individual(s) with the relevant experience. If selected, the individual(s) is/are expected to incorporate a company in India
  • MSMEs
  • Large enterprises
9. What are the key parameters in the selection of an application for the ULIP Challenge?

The short listing of applications would be done on the below parameters:

  • Understanding of the problem statement
  • Flow, format, and presentation of their solution pitched
  • Value brought by their solution/idea/enterprise for Indian Logistics
  • Role of their solution in enhancing LPI and EoDB.
  • Benefits to trade and citizens like cost optimization, logistics movement, etc.
10. What are the Evaluation criteria for different stages of the ULIP Challenge?

11. What is the selection process for the ULIP Challenge?

The short listing of applications would be done on the below parameters:

  • Understanding of the problem statement
  • Flow, format, and presentation of their solution pitched
  • Value brought by their solution/idea/enterprise for Indian Logistics
  • Role of their solution in enhancing LPI and EoDB.
  • Benefits to trade and citizens like cost optimization, logistics movement, etc.
12. What are the timelines for different stages of the ULIP Challenge?
  • Launch of the challenge - 16th December 2021
  • Close of Idea Submission Stage - 25th January 2022
  • Results of Ideation Stage - 4th February 2022
  • Close of Prototype Stage - 25th March 2022
  • Results of Prototype Stage - 12th April 2022
  • Award Ceremony - 18th April 2022
13. What data sets can be used to build this challenge?

14. Can a participating entity use open source solutions?

Yes, open source is not prohibited.

15. Where do I host the solution for this challenge?

Shortlisted entities for Stage-2 "Prototype Development" will be hosting the application on their own infrastructure.

16. What does the participating entity gain from participating in this ULIP Challenge?

Top three winners of the hackathon will be given monetary awards. Winners will be given incubation support to further develop their solution for ULIP platform.

17. Do participating entity needs to sign a NDA to get API access of the datasets for Stage 2 - Prototype development

Yes, all shortlisted applicants for stage 2 - Prototype development have to sign the NDA document to get API access of the datasets. NDA may be found here

18. What should the proposed solution section contain?

In the Ideation stage, applications will share use-cases on ULIP platforms which will help to reduce logistics cost in India. This shortlisting of applications would be done on the below parameters:

  • Understanding of the problem statement
  • Flow, format, and presentation of their solution pitched
  • Value brought by their solution/idea/enterprise for Indian Logistics
  • Role of their solution in enhancing LPI and EoDB
  • Benefits to trade and citizens like cost optimization, logistics movement, etc
19. How much is the award money for the winners?

Prize money for the winners is:

  • Winner of the Hackathon - Rs 10 Lakhs
  • 1st Runner-up - Rs 7 Lakhs
  • 2nd Runner-up - Rs 5 Lakhs
